Hypnosis?

I'm just gonna come right out and say it because I get asked regularly about it....Yes Rapid Resolution Therapy® is a form of hypnosis.  Now I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in a state that requires NO training to be a hypnotherapist at all.  Nope Missouri does not require you to get specific training in hypnosis before you start calling yourself a hypnotherapist.  Nor does it require you to have any other form of training to be a hypnotherapist.  Which means in Missouri my auto mechanic could start a side business as a hypnotherapist.  Crazy huh?
Now I have been training exclusively in RRT hypnosis for years now.  It is the ONLY form of hypnosis that I know.  I do recognize there are other forms out there and have learned about them.  I am very satisfied with RRT and the results I see my clients experience therefore I see no reason to go and study another form of RRT.
Some of my clients on the other hand have experienced other forms of hypnosis and I have been told they prefer what I do.  They describe it as a deep feeling of relaxation with the ability to hear and know what I am doing while in that state of relaxation.  They have told me that with other forms of hypnosis they had NO CLUE what the hypnotherapist was doing or saying.  OK which ever this is what I do, my clients like it and when I receive RRT I like it myself.  And I would describe it just the same...deep relaxation and yet I know what's going on around me.
The fact that I do hypnosis is likely to scare some off.  That's a bummer.  If you have questions about hypnosis or concerns please feel free to call us and we will answer your questions.  You can also click on this link from my RRT friend Mark Chidley who just posted about hypnosis and RRT.  It's a GREAT article!
If you are actually seeking a hypnotherapist in the Missouri area do your research.  As I mentioned before in Missouri NOTHING Is required to be such...no previous mental health education/experience and no hypnosis training!  Be an educated consumer, this is an investment in yourself!

DEADLINES

Someone recently sent me a link to a very useful diagram mapping out how to better meet your deadlines and reduce your stress over those deadlines.  Now it may have been more helpful if I had gotten around to reviewing it before summer break for school, but I didn't- lucky me my life was busy at the time.  (Or unlucky me which ever)
Anyways  it's called MEET THAT DEADLINE review it, hover over any icon and it has even more information, there's a ton of great sources noted at the bottom.  It's from MBAonline.  Hope you find it as interesting and helpful as I have!

SAAM Statistics

Sexual Assault in the U.S
1 in 5 women and 1in 71 men will be raped at some point in their lives.  1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys will be sexually abused before they turn 18 years old.  In about 8 out of 10 cases of rape the survivor knew the perpetrator.  There's a lot more numbers around this issue out there.

Cost/Impact of Sexual Assault
Each rape costs approximately $151,423
Annually, rape costs the U.S more than any other crime ($127 billion), followed by assault ($93 billion),  murder ($71 billion), and drunk driving, including fatalities ($61 billion)
81% of women and 35% of men report significant short- or long-term impacts such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Health care is 16% higher for women who were sexually abused as children and 36% higher for women who were physically and sexually abused as children

Pretty astounding huh?  Here's the thing...there is help, there is effective treatment for the after effects of being raped, sexually assaulted, and molested.  It's quick, effective, and painless.  What is it you ask?  Rapid Resolution Therapy®.  Which, if you don't already know, is the ONLY type of therapy I do and I actually specialize in treating survivors of sexual violence.  Women, men, and adolescents.  There's no reason to continue to suffer!!

Help is out there

As I'm out there trying to reach and heal as many survivors of sexual violence as I can the implications, social stigma, and everything else that surrounds survivors seems very overwhelming to them and myself.  The laws and how they are spelled out and written can infuriate me.  How organizations handle survivors speaking out is sometimes ridiculous.

I'm not a law maker, have no desire to be one.  I have no desire to go back to school and become a lawyer.  I'm very passionate about healing and transforming the lives of any and all clients that walk through my office door.  In an effort to reach more and more people I have become active in a Women's organization.  In doing so I have come across and AMAZING organization here in the St. Louis area.  It's called the Jane Doe Advocacy Center.  They provide legal services focused on public health and sexual violence.  Seriously AMAZING organization.  I am now in the process of becoming a volunteer for that organization.

They have a website: www.janedoeadvocacy.org  and a Facebook page: www.facebook.com/JaneDoeAdvocacy

They are a not-for-profit organization providing legal services to survivors of sexual violence and domestic violence.  Donations are welcomed!!

Babies Travel Lite

My family and I leave for our first ever cruise, and it's a Disney Cruise to boot. While searching around on the cruise website I found a great resource, Babies Travel Lite. We're having all our daughter's diaper needs shipped to the ship and it will be waiting in our stateroom when we get there. Yes I do not have to pack an entire suitcase full of diapers, wipes, etc. You can also do swim diapers, bath time necessities, lotions, diaper ointment, food, just about anything your baby or toddler needs. They figure out how much you will need each day and it's supposedly all packaged for each day. Yippie less luggage for me!

Summer Camp

I do not come from a family that was all about summer camp. Maybe that's because we lived out in the country with cows, horses, chickens, and a pond thus our home was like camp for all my friends. My very first experience with camp was 5th grade camp. I hated it. I cried, I begged to come home, and I was stuck there for a weekend. Then I vaguely remember scout camp, I was just disappointed that we didn't have horses to go ridding on. After that I was a 6th grade camp counselor and I loved it. In graduate school I was hired on as summer staff at a residential facility for abused and neglected children/adolescents. Again I loved it. So I jumped at the chance to be a counselor with Camp Weloki. Weloki stands for We Love Kids. And we do at camp. In fact Camp Weloki is the most loving, accepting place I have ever known. It gives me a high to be there that lingers when I come home. I've done their week long summer camp as well as the weekend camps. I have referred a niece and nephew to go, both love it and wnet numerous time. (My niece is too old now to attend) I have recently gotten to see how helpful Camp Weloki was for one of my counseling clients. She loves it and is begging to go back.
Camp Weloki is not your normal camp. The kids get a lot of time to talk about what's on their mind, what's bothering them, they get a lot of positive feedback and support from the staff, and lots of time to be outdoors and have fun. The ratio of staff to kids is amazing, it's usually like one staff per two to three kids. Tim Jordon and his wife who created Camp Weloki are incredible people. Their Camp Director Christina is also great and wonderful. So if your looking for a place for your kids/teens to go and grow check Camp Weloki out!

Camp Weloki

This afternoon I will be heading off to volunteer my time as a camp counselor. A camp counselor for my most favorite camp, Camp Weloki. It stands for We Love Kids. I hated camp the few times I went, but Camp Weloki didn't exist in that time. I wish it had. Weloki would have given me a lot of tools and skills. Now though I get to be counselor and gives kids a chance to learn those tools and skills early. So wish me well, and more so the teens who are coming to share their story!
