How often have you experienced or seen someone parenting through guilt? How often have you experienced teachers teaching through guilt. I can not even count the amount of times a client has come in about say depression or anger and what's really deep down in there is guilt. Guilt that was started from a very early age. And that guilt just builds and deepens. We guilt ourselves about things that have happened. In fact recently I had breakfast with a friend who was telling me about all this guilt she was experiencing in regards to a normal human experience. She was opening up and apologizing to several people, for her normalcy, and telling them how guilty and sorry she was, for being human. And some of them in turn were giving her more reasons to feel guilty. I asked her, as she protested "Please don't do your counselor thing on me," Where do we keep the guilty buffalos? It was truly difficult for me to watch my dear friend feel so terribly guilty for being a normal human. She hadn't harmed anyone or anything. She just had a feeling that she believes is not acceptable and thus there was that guilt.
Here's another reason I love doing Rapid Resolution Therapy, I clean up guilt, for clients, in a matter of minutes. It's an emotion that is not helpful. So why keep it? Funny thing is some people think they deserve to feel this way. Heaven help me if I have to have surgery done by a surgeon who's feeling guilty!!!
Guilt naws away at people even when their not trying to think about it. It works on you while your sleeping, working, playing, eating, and breathing. Without it though there's a clarity and understanding, shall I say enlightenment, that gives you the freedom to live a healthier more joyful life. Wouldn't the holiday season be brighter with more Joy?
