Therapist shopping

If I haven't posted about this before let me post about this now.  Yes you are best served by finding the right therapist for you, not just the first one listed in the Yellow Pages.  Also investigate the type of therapy they do.  There really are tons of therapeutic processes.  Yes I LOVE Rapid Resolution Therapy® and find it beneficial for my clients.  Doesn't mean that RRT is the best fit for you or that I'm the best fit for you!  So be an educated consumer of mental health care!!!

Exciting news

I want to just give a quick note about an exciting project I'm working on....
I was contacted by a well known publishing company to read and review a book.  My compensation is 1st the PDF version of the book.  2nd I will also then receive a hard copy of the book and 3rd my blog and info will be displayed on the book launch site.  This whole thing is called a blog host tour.  Until I was contacted by them I had no clue this kind of stuff happened in the blog world.

What do I have to do in return?  Read and review the book.

I'm over half way through the book and I love it!  I'm so glad and grateful to get a PDF version so I can highlight it and write all over it.  Now I know your asking...what book?  What's the title?  Well you'll have to wait until October to learn!!

Judgement(s)

Yes I know you've heard it time and time again about not passing judgement, judge not least yea be judged, etc.  Blah Blah Blah.
I have a slightly different perspective of this.  When we judge others (which lets face it, it happens!)  our emotional mind responds to that thought.  Typically the emotional response is in some form of anger.  Another possible response is sadness that something happened the way it did.  Both of these emotions are problematic over time and can cause physical issues.  Yes this is proven to be true- problematic emotions can cause physical issues.  Just check here about anger and here to learn about sadness.

Bottom line when we are judging others we are likely harming ourselves.  Many times when someone comes into my office and there's anger then there's likely also judgement about others in their life.  That anger is doing nothing to change the other person's behavior, at all.  I know for a fact it's definitely not helping my client in anyway what so ever.  I'm always looking for my clients to be as healthy physically and emotionally as they can.
How about this?  A different perspective, a new understanding, and more gratitude and joy?  What and how you say?  By getting the those internal judgement programs rewritten and those problematic emotions cleaned up!!

Haunting Childhood issues

I've recently been asked a few times by a few different people about given my training and specialty in trauma treatment if I can effectively work with adults who survived childhood abuse.  I'll be honest here I initially found that question odd.  Why do I find it odd?  Because childhood abuse IS trauma. Simple answer is Yes I do.
If you or someone you know has been through something that continues to haunt them days, months, or even years later- Yes I work with that.
What do I mean by being haunted by your past?  Memories coming up and creating painful emotions, continued reactions to things that you would like to handle differently, habits that have started since that event (nail biting, picking at your skin, etc) some traumatic events create phobias.  Like for example car accidents may create a phobia with driving.  A bad experience flying can create a phobia of flying.  (Please note not all phobias are a direct result of something traumatic)
Does this help better explain feeling haunted by your past?
Imagine being free of those haunting, problematic emotions, thoughts and behaviors?  How freeing would that be?  It is possible...

My 1st ever press release

So I'm part of a weekly teleconference about marketing your private practice.  One of our homework assignments was to create a press release...so I thought I'd share it here...ya know...why not?

Are you having fun in therapy?

St. Charles, Missouri, July 2013 - According to Tara S. Dickherber, Licensed Professional Counselor, therapy can be fun, humourous, and enjoyable, all while creating a healing and transformative experience for her clients.  Tara S. Dickherber is Certified in Rapid Resolution Therapy®, a process that utilizes humor to eliminate painful emotions like anxiety, guilt, and grief.

Rapid Resolution Therapy® can and does quickly clear problematic emotions and behaviors with long lasting effects.  RRT® was created by Dr. Jon Connelly, LCSW, Ph.D. as a method to treat clients who have survived trauma.  Tara’s clients are able to triumph over their past and move forward with ease and joy.  RRT utilizes humor as a way to shift the emotional mind from painful often problematic emotions to a healthier state of mind.  Tara reported that since she uses RRT and humor as a therapeutic process she no longer has to buy cases of kleenex for her clients.  She is currently writing a book on how to utilize humor in s therapeutic way.  For more information on this process visit www.rapidresolutiontherapy.com or Tara’s site www.mylifecoachtara.com

Tara S. Dickherber, LPC is excited to have been the first therapist to bring this form of therapy to St. Charles and St. Louis.  Currently she is one of three therapists in the St. Charles and St. Louis area to be Certified in RRT, and the only one to exclusively practice RRT.  She is very passionate and eager to help take her clients from a place of emotional pain to emotional wellness.  She stated “RRT has taken me from being a counselor to being a transformative healer.”  Tara has been exclusively practicing RRT for the past 4 years and is thrilled to watch her clients heal from past traumas.  Issues Tara has effectively worked with are veterans of war who have been traumatized, survivors of sexual violence and even childhood abuse.

Tara is currently offering face to face 45 minute consultations for $25.  Unlike other therapeutic modalities which are typically scheduled for an hour once a week or once every other week her sessions are scheduled for 3 hours each giving her plenty of time to take care of many issues.  She reports most clients see her 1 to 3 times before their issues are resolved.  This means less time away from work and your personal life and more time to live and enjoy your life!

Feeling moving

Have you or someone you know been talking about how sick they are of feeling a certain way or reacting a certain way?  And that they know it would be better to feel and react different ways but they can't seem to make it happen?  Guess what?  You or them...are not a tree and it can be changed.  How you ask?  Through Rapid Resolution Therapy®.
How does RRT do that you ask?  Well it's more like how do I do that.  I do it by communicating in a way that that part of your mind gets it.  Cause those behaviors and/or feelings are coming from your subconscious mind.  In doing so emotions and behaviors change naturally and with out effort on your part.  Seriously...no joke.  And to boot my sessions are fun and light.  In the past 2 years I've only had to get a new box of kleenex once and I think more because I have allergies than because clients cry in sessions with me.

Assert yourself

Many times, more so women than men, a client comes into my office with a lack of an ability to assert themselves.  Many talk about low self esteem, anxiety, and feelings of being unappreciated.  When those feelings are cleared up and the mind is tuned up to see and aim for what is beneficial and possible people start to naturally assert themselves.
Again I came across an article somewhat about this and I thought I'd share it with you.
How to get everything you want. Seriously. By Dave Kerpen
Assertiveness is just a phone call away!
See that cute little picture?  That could be you!!!
