We, as humans, have very complex minds. This complexity has created amazing things like computers, airplanes, and my favorite chocolate chip cookies. It also can cause some glitches in our day and lives. One of those glitches is that our mind creates meanings to so many things. For example when someone experiences a traumatic event, say being raped, that person’s mind may create a meaning that what happened to their body means they are lesser of a person. Now you and I know that that is just not so. But mind creates a meaning and the meaning is always 100% worse than the actual event.
However even in everyday life mind creates meanings. One meaning my mind used to create, a lot, was when I was driving on the highway and got behind someone who was going slow that meant that “the Universe” wanted me to slow down, enjoy life more, and save me from getting into a car accident. WHAT?? So silly right? One I heard a friend tell me time and time again is when she saw a hawk fly over it meant she had a big decision she had to make soon. Uhhhh OK.
Let me ask you a question- When a zebra is out on the savanna and there’s a storm and lightening streaks across the sky does the zebra look up and think: “The Gods must be angry?” No. He looks up and sees light. But humans sure have been known to look up, see lightening and think “The Gods must be angry.”
A life without meaning is actually so different and freeing. That car that I was behind that was going slow, it just was some driver going slower than me. The driver had no intention or knowledge that he or she was going slower than I would like to go. It’s up to me to either pass or just be patient. That person who had been raped is still a worthwhile person with many positive qualities. What happened was icky, and we don’t have to like it, but it means nothing about who that person is. That hawk that flew over my friend didn’t care or know about any decision she had or didn’t have to make. In fact it’s likely that hawk was looking for food or a mate. Hawks don’t care about what we do with our lives! And that lightening, well it was caused by some atmospheric conditions. So when things happen in my life or the lives of my clients, it’s just something happening. There’s no meaning behind it.
I recently just received an e-mail from a client whom I had cleared of all kinds of trauma: molestation, abandonment, abuse from now ex-husband, etc. She noted in the e-mail she wasn’t sure what it all meant to have had the chance to see me and be cleared of it all. She then went on to ask where to look to seek meaning from life about things that she was still troubled with, say from an animal she recently saw. There’s nothing more to the session than a chance to get her mind updated and optimized. And well any animal she sees is doing it’s own thing, it has nothing to do with what her minds doing, thinking, or feeling.
When we are able to notice how other’s and even our own minds create meanings and know that those meanings are meaningless then life becomes lighter and easier. When a disagreement or argument happens that’s all it is, a disagreement or argument. It has nothing to do with who you are or who that person is. When your stuck in traffic that’s all it is, traffic. It is what it is, no more no less. Think about it, how many times has your mind created some meaning that lingered for what seemed like forever about some situation you experienced? Now take that meaning out of the equation and what do you have? A much simpler situation that likely feels so much easier to deal with now.
A life without meaning is very different, in fact it frees energy to lead a life with purpose, passion, and peace of mind! And Rapid Resolution Therapy can and does free that energy!!
