I try very very hard to avoid the mall when we get close to Thanksgiving. I try even harder to avoid it during that period after Thanksgiving and until after the New Year's sales are over. However I forgot until recently to schedule my annual shopping trip with my nephew. (He's 15 and lives with my parents, so he needs someone to help him get out and get his shopping done for his grandparents and such.) So today we did that. It was his first day off for the holidays and he actually got up when I told him to and was dressed and ready to go when I showed up. 1st score of this shopping game. Took some of our time to run paperwork to my job, got it done 2nd score of this trip. Off to Toys R Us, shoppers and staff were nice and cheerful but I forgot to pick up some new sippy cups for my little pumpkin. I'm still calling it the 3rd score because I didn't have to pull my hair out. Then we went to the mall. Again everyone was nice, sweet, helpful, I had to park in the Eastern Half of Alaska in the rain, but I left the mall on time. My nephew got all he needed at the mall, and everyone was still in a good mood. 4th score for us. He decided he had two more stores to go to, he evaluated the time and decided he could get his shopping completed at one store. I'm giving myself a 5th score for that. I have to get home in time to get the pumpkin down for a nap!! Our last store was
Lowe's, hardly anyone there, found his last two gifts, cashier wasn't overly friendly, we'll still call it our 6th score. Last we head to
McDonald's. The drive through line was unbelievably LONG. As we are sitting there I'm just people watching (I've always enjoyed this past time) A mother and three children come across the parking lot walking to the front door and cross in front of my car. No big deal right? I'm still people watching/staring off into starving my head off space, and WHAM!! This mom is yelling at me. Seriously, looking me straight in the eye from my driver's side window and YELLING at me. Of course my nephew has some angry youth music on the radio and it's up louder than I can almost stand so the only word I made out was "drive." Her kids are looking at me weird and they walk off into McDonald's. What the heck? I thought about rolling my window down, asking her to repeat herself and then thanking her for being such a GREAT example to the three children with her of a calm, cool headed adult but I refrained from that. I reminded myself that what ever she is upset about has more to do with her, her issues, her perspective on life, than it did about me and my hungry self. So for that I have decided to take one of her daily cyber scores and add it to my cyber scores which now total 7.
Who ever you were at McDonald's today, I hope tomorrow is a better day for you and that you have a VERY Merry Christmas!

I love it! Good job scoring a 7 out of 7 today. Not bad for holiday madness. I love the attitude you have about this situation. How much more positive would life be if we could all approach situations with that attitude? Merry Christmas!
That last quote is a great life philosophy. Thanks for sharing it.
